Through The Bell Tower

Once again on Molokai, as I was heading out the door for a sunset stroll on the beach I glimpsed up to check the light of the sky and wham I see this image. This was hand held (no tripod.. try to get that through security?) and straight out of the camera with just a small cropping.

Oh how i wish you had a tripod! What lens are you using?

@Streetlights: I'm using my 100-300 zoom. I often suffer from what I call " wrong lens-itis". But usually that is my lens of preference.

Nice shot. I too need to get a tripod for those shots that require the camera to be stable.

It's tough to get sharp with out a tri-pod. You could try to pack it in your checked luggage if you are worried about security. I know people who travel with them and they've never mentioned any problems with it getting through security.

@Laurie: Ok , Laurie, woman to woman? I had too many shoes in my case for the tripod.... also, it's old, big, and very cumbersome. Plus I had too many shoes... ;-)

Nice shot, love the colors and silhouettes.
You might try a gorillapod...it's a flexible tripod you can wrap around a pole, tree limb, etc. and of course on the ground too, but it's short. They have 3 different versions depending on the weight of your camera. I have the SLR version and it fits perfectly in my camera case.

@Jen: Thanks, Jen. I've heard of the gorillapod but haven't had a chance to look into them. Guess it's time to do so. I didn't know they had different sizes for specific camera weights. Good advice.
