Black bird singing..

"Black bird singing in the dead of night...take these broken wings and learn to fly.." The Beatles

The red wing black birds were singing their hearts out last night by the corner marsh. Actually, it's called Qually's Corner. If my battery hadn't died (yep, need to rectify that situation..) I would also have had some shots of the muskrats, too. Maybe tomorrow night... after by battery recharges. BTW, The Beatles' "Black Bird" is one of my "if you were alone on an island what 10 songs would you want with you" song.

@kaveh: Thanks kaveh!! I actually had lots of time to focus etc using my tripod.. these guys were so busy singing to each other they were oblivious to me ;-)

Cool shot Amy. The colours are excellent. The Red Wing Blackbirds are very handsome birds, I hope you manage to get lots more shots of them.

How long to they stay around your district, are they migrant birds or a year round variety? We get blackbirds here, but they are a different species to yours, all black garden birds with bright yellow beaks, they stay all year , and sing beatiful songs in the spring.

@Richard_Irwin: Hey Richard!! So glad you liked this one.. I'm partial to it as well. These guys are migrant. They come in mid-spring and leave late fall then leave for the winter (no food for these guys in the winter around here). We also get the yellow headed black bird which I hope I can get a shot of this year.

@Robert: Hi Robert! Like I told kaveh... these guys were so busy singing they were oblivious to me. It was one of those magical moments.. ;-) that is 'till my battery crashed! But I now have a backup unit...
