Life is a tragedy for those who feel, and a comedy for those who think. La Bruyere
This too is pretty much straight from the camera except for a small crop. I could've watched these birds all night.
Just tell me what you think. I'm a big girl.... I won't cry for long. ;-)

@kaveh: Thanks kaveh!! Have to get out to the marsh to practice some more.. which means fighting off the hords of mosquitos! LOL Even the bug spray doesn't seem to help this year!!!
I love the feeling of motion here Amy. It's mouth open adds a strange feeling to it, like it's a kamikaze or something. Nicely done.

@Stu: Hey Stu!! Thanks bunches! These red wing black birds are like kamikazes especially when you get too close to their nests!! LOL I do try not to disturb them too much.. ;-)
Such an action shot, Amy! I wasn't around much these days and I'm gonna check to see what I missed. ;))

@Behrooz: Hey Behrooz!! No worries! So enjoyed those bee shots of yours... wow!! I've been thinking about how maybe I can do some... And I think that if I just set up my camera where the bees do their most buzzing I could use my remote!!! Hmmmm... ;-)
Lovely capture Amy, you always see tp be in the right place at the right time!

@Stunner: Stunner!!! How ya doin'? Thanks for that! It's just if you sit at the marsh these birds get used to you and then do their thing. The ducks and geese on the other hand take off and don't come back LOL ;-)
I love the way its coming in to land with its beak open, and feet at the ready. Great shot Amy

@Richard_Irwin: Hello Richard! Sometimes providence does smile down on me! But I must start practicing that panning technique you wrote about... it was a great tip! Thanks!! ;-D
Wonderful capture Amy!!!

@Jen: Again... thank you a gajillion!!
Tomorrow's post, I think, is the best of the bunch but a total ooops! Just a teaser.. LOL ;-)
Good job of capturing a moment in flight of what often seems to be perpetual motion machine.

@yiannis krikis: Hey yiannis!! Thanks as always! ;-)
Lovely motion shot Amy, i wish i had all those beautiful birds around to experiment the shutter and appertures hehehe... You lucky gal. ;-)

@Rahul: Thanks Rahul!! I figured that in Malaysia you'd have scads of colourful birds to stalk!!
Really nice capture of the birds Amy! I could spend hours watching the birds around here too! Our resident pair of crows have been walking around the grass one at a time for a while now - so it shouldn't be long till they are both down with their babies. The only time I saw two of them this last while was when they both flew out chasing a couple of seagulls out of the area. So funny and what a noise! Both seagulls and crows walk around the grass peacably the rest of the year with the crows teasing the seagulls now and again! ;-)

@Anne: So glad you're back Anne!!! (again I say that)
There should be a great shot in that somewhere. Silly birds... it's life or death for them but great entertainment for us LOL
Superb capture!

@Still: Thanks Still! I think you might like tomorrow's post... when I saw what I had taken it reminded me of what I see on your site.. but mine is an oops!! ;-)
Well done.
This year it seems the birds are more active than I ever remember them before. At times the bird calls are so loud it's almost alarming.
29 May 2007 4:22pm
@Laurie: Thanks Laurie!! And you're right, they do seem more active come to think of it. I don't know if you have feeders, but we do and I swear they're more voracious in their eating this spring than in other years!! ;-)
Great shot Amy! I love the motion associated with this picture...And thank you so much for all the lovely comments! :)
