Chimney

Rocky Mountain House (Rocky to locals) was established because of the fur trade. Through the course of the years that the fur trade happened, there were three different forts that were built. Standing where the last fort was are two chimneys; the only remaining physical evidence of the fort's existence.

@Jen: Hey Jen!! They actually built the whole Historic Park around these chimneys. Not sure how they managed to survive quite frankly. It's a fascinating history that made Rocky what it is. We were the end of the line for the fur trading with the natives and the gov't could extrapolate more on that but don't. It's too bad really.

I used the HDR merge in my CS2 for part of the process with this. Just experimenting with it... need to learn more. ;-)

@Laurie: Hey Laurie! Don't hate me but I can't remember what the hell I did besides the HDR merge in CS2. I know I twisted the curves, and played a bit with the staturation (obviously, duh) but as to filters? I'm sure I didn't use any. And I know better than to save my stuff straight to jpeg. Usually I save them to psd first so I have all the layers and can figure out what I did but for some bizarre reason I didn't on this one. Sorry, that's all I can say about the technicalities of this image. Hope it helps a bit. Note to self: write it down!!

@Richard_Irwin: Hey Richard! I had to do something because I'm afraid the chimneys are quite boring otherwise. No real sense of history when you look at them. Silly, I know, but really that's how it is. These chimneys have been photographed ad nauseum and I've yet to see any image of them that really expressed the age/history. Ok, after that long blather, thanks so much for the look-see and comment. Always am happy to see your visit!! Truly! ;-)

@Mohamadreza: Thank you!! I know... sometimes it's really too easy to over the line with pp and over process the image. And with this one, I had hoped that I hadn't over done it. ;-)
