Red River Wagon WheelPosted by amy (Nanaimo, BC, Canada) on 13 June 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. So. In order to get the pelts to the fort to be taken up river in the York Boat... whew... they would either have the Natives come right to the fort to trade or go to them. In which case, they would transport the pelts in a Red River Cart. Apparently, the wheels were not greased because of all the dust which would mix with the dust and seize the wheels. They say you could hear these carts coming from miles away because of the squeaking from the ungreased wheels. History lesson over. Quiz in the morning. ;-) You can view my gallery of images and calendar for sale at: cute but stupid . I'm slowly adding more to the site and if there is something in my portfolio you would like to purchase but is not available on my site just contact me and I'll make it available. I appreciate all visits and comments and thank you always... ;-)
