Rufous Hummingbird

I should be calling all these posts now, "What I did on summer vacation"! LOL I felt that these shots of this rufous hummingbird weren't stand alone images so I did the old triptych trick (Yes, Rahul, it is this time as there are only 3 images... LOL). The only way I managed to even get these images was to hide around a door way and sneak my head around with my camera to even get these images. The hummers out on the island aren't quite as co-operative as the ones around here... that is when they're around. My hummers are still pretty much awol. Have only seen a couple late at night.

I like how you captured the motion of the wings while still coming up with detail in the body of the bird. These guys are difficult to shoot at best. You did 100 times better than my last attempt to capture this critter! Well done! I wonder how fast the shutter speed would need to be in order to stop the action of the wings? Hmmm.

@Craiger: Now that Craig is the $64,000.00 question!! But looking through my stuff you need at least 1/800 sec. But my hummers are still playing shy so I have to wait 'till I go back out to the Okanagan in August again before I can start stalking again. LOL Thanks as always Craig!

This/these are magnificent, Amy. I have yet to even SEE a humming bird, far less get a postable photo of one. So, congrats on both counts. Love the triptych.
