Lost Valley from Kamloops, CanadaAmy this is fabulous!! How did you capture this?? Fantastic !!! 1 Sep 2007 5:16am @Lost Valley: Wow!! Thanks so much for that favourite word of mine... fabulous and fantastic.. aka the f-bombs!! I took this one up at Postill Lake and the dragonflys were hovering perfectly over the beach. I just had to stand and watch and wait... and not for long. There was one place in particular they like to hover over and would hover for at least a minute which gave even me oodles of time. LOL And I see you're up as late as me... really should go to bed... yawn... oh maybe just one more blog.. R from Nowhere and Everywhere, United StatesThank goodness for all these expensive digitlal cameras !!! or we would never been able to make a Dragon Fly look so GOOD !!! ...LOL... Great Capture there AIMSTER !! 1 Sep 2007 5:42am @R: Thanks R!! And that is so tue... we can keep clicking away and have a look see if we actuallly got the shot. Saves film and time. AND a better learning curve... I think. Now, I think it's hilarious you called me Aimster!! Usually only my very close friends call me that.... because they know me so well. Too funny. badala from Leiria, PortugalGorgeous. I love this! One of the many beauties of nature. 1 Sep 2007 9:24am @badala: Thank you very much badala!! @Paulo: Thanks Paulo!! The dof really set this one up great. Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomSuperbly captured, that must have been fun locking the focus onto them. You made that D70 work hard for sure, so very well done. 1 Sep 2007 9:46am @Richard_Irwin: It was!! And I didn't yell too many obscenities at them either!! LOL I used manual focus on lots of the shots I took as the dragonfllys were hovering in the same spot for long periods. So I had time to really get the shot I wanted. Now how often does that happen with dragonflys?! LOL Thanks so much Richard!! Daniel & Jessica from Melbourne, AustraliaTruly nice to look at. It's really fun to watch things hovering eh? How long did you have to spend before you captured this perfect shot? 1 Sep 2007 12:39pm @Daniel & Jessica: Thanks D&J!! I didn't have to wait long at all. The dragonflys were being very co-operative. They were hovering over one place in particular for long periods so I was able to set up my shots with some "ease". Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaStunning. The dragonfly struck a great pose for you. 1 Sep 2007 3:05pm @Michael Rawluk: Hey Michael!! Thanks so much!! They all wanted to be super models I guess... LOL!!! @Craiger: Thanks Craig!!! aggie from Singapore, SingaporeYour patience paid off, Amy. Well worth the wait. Stunning shot. 1 Sep 2007 4:37pm @aggie: Thank you aggie!! Really appreciate the visit and comment... especially when the "stunning" word is used. @Riya: Thank you! @Maysam: Thank you so much! @Jep: Thank you so much Jep! Lala from Long Sault, CanadaHow amazing! It looks like you captured him smiling as well :) 1 Sep 2007 8:35pm @Lala: You know I thought the same when I saw him full screen. Thanks so much, eh?!! Stunner from Kingston, JamaicaWOW! Amny this is absolutely a fabulous capture! How long and to what extent did you have to go to take this shot? 1 Sep 2007 10:54pm @Stunner: Thanks Stunner!! It didn't take very long at all. The dragonflys were very co-operative. They were all hovering for long periods of time in the same basic spot so it was fairly easy to set up my shots. Do all I had to do was stand there and click merrily away.. ;-) Michael from TX, United StatesAwesome shot! I know how difficult it is to catch them moving. 1 Sep 2007 11:11pm @Michael: Thanks Michael!! And yes you are right it is usually very difficult to capture these guys moving but on this day they all seemed to want to be super models so were very co-operative! LOL bronzebilly u.k. from cardiff, United KingdomO.K.--bigboots--you've scored top marks with this baby again--ace capture cutesie--detail is superb--stupendo blimey--billsyboy 2 Sep 2007 12:23am @bronzebilly u.k.: Hey!! LOL hee hee hee... THANK YOU Mike!! Roberta from Rocky Mtn House, CanadaGET OUT OF HERE!! How in the h.e.doublehockeysticks?? Okay I just went back and read the comments. Behrooz from Tehran, IranAre you serious!? How did you do this!? Impossible shot done professionally. 3 Sep 2007 4:22pm @Behrooz: Really!! it wasn't that difficult. They were very co-operative.. Thanks so much for that very enthusiastic comment!!!! Ian Bramham from Manchester, United Kingdomsuperb shot! - I loved that background almost as much as the dragonfly. The amount of movement blur in the wings is perfect. 3 Sep 2007 4:36pm @Ian Bramham: Hey Ian!! Sorry for such a late response... somehow I missed your comment.. Thank you so much for your comment!! I really appreciate it!! Dave MacIntyre from Toronto, CanadaWOW! You nailed the focus on this one. Excellent photo! 4 Sep 2007 2:00am @Dave MacIntyre: THANKS!! ;-) aminTorres from United Statesreally like dragon flies and this one is no exception. 4 Sep 2007 6:41pm @aminTorres: Thanks so much aminTorres! And yes, I was pretty jazzed about this one!! @Matt Trujillo Photography: THAT is THE FUNNIEST and BEST comment EVER!!!! I've been walking around the office all day saying... Holy mother of WOW! Thank you Matt on all levels!! Sashmo Au.go.go from Adelaide, AustraliaSweet illusion of suspended animation! (intended as a replacement for the exclamation featuring a religious icon) I missed this one. It's an absolutely drop-dead stunning capture, Amy. I have a strong affinity for dragonflies as they have so many characteristics that intrigue me. I saw plenty and photographed equally as many during my days in Japan, yet don't recall laying eyes on any since I've been back in Aus. Perhaps winter isn't their time. Thankfully, spring has allegedly sprung. Yay! Congrats on this. It's a superb capture. 5 Sep 2007 4:06am @Sashmo Au.go.go: Ok... that's it... this one is going into my favourites!!! So as the sun is setting here into winter it's rising there into summer... (that's my poetic imagery for my melancholy of the seasons changing) @Zing: Thanks so much Zing!! Jamal from Kuantan, MalaysiaYeah! Can't agree more with all other comments. A great capture indeed!! Bravo 6 Sep 2007 12:01am @Jamal: Thank you very much Jamal!! Josh from Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaI still really admire this picture! Amazing stuff! 6 Sep 2007 8:22pm @Josh: Thanks so much Josh!! Dang from Marietta, United StatesReally well done!
