Roberta (www.uncommondepth.com) and my main intent on our day trip shoot was a little town called Big Valley. This little town is a train town. They're actually training new conductors there with a program out of NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). The lady who heads up the program was actually there for an open house and was on the platform while I was trying to get some train shots. She approached not about my photography, which of course in my limited experience is what total strangers usually approach you about when standing with camera on tripod etc, but to actually recruit me to the course. LOL!!!! But when you think about it, can you imagine the amazing photo ops you'd have daily "riding the rails"?? Oh and I do have to admit that the thing I like most about this image is that you can see the prairie "through" the car of the train.
Remember tomorrow and Sunday is Graffiti Days!!
Thanks as always for your comments and visits!!!! And TGIF!!!!!!
Just tell me what you think. I'm a big girl.... I won't cry for long. ;-)

Great sense of motion here - the car looks transparent. Good call to use the aperture to get a longer exposure. Took me ages to work out how to do that!

@Lorraine: Hey Lorraine! The train wasn't going all that fast as they were just doing some switching... but probably around the 20km mark I'd guess. It was so much fun getting this shot... always wanted to do this!! Thanks eh!

Awesome - and you really got lucky with the 'transparent' rail car...I'm sorry if that was actually intentional :)
19 Nov 2007 2:45pm
@bm: Thank you bm!! And yes it was intentional but I knew what you meant anyways!! ;-)
I have to keep coming back to this shot, it's SoOoOOo good and love the story to go with it. Love the unexpected, much better than getting the hassle we do here for shooting. I've even had the police question me photographing the moon, in my own yard. Want to trade houses? ;-) Thanks for sharing, gave me a good chuckle along with the view.
