This is from the top of Sulphur Mountain in Banff. Sulphur Mountain is 7667 feet in elevation... so not quite the top of the world but within spitting distance. It was just breathtaking up there... figuratively and literally. We hadn't been to the top of Sulphur in probably 20yrs but when we saw that they now have the gondolas running in the winter we knew we had to go up. I have scads of shots from our little trip... hope you don't get too bored with them.
Just tell me what you think. I'm a big girl.... I won't cry for long. ;-)

The hills are alive with the sound of snowshoes.
Impressive scene, Amy.

Wow! What I would be to be there now...skiing.

Superb shot, Amy. Such a moody feel here. I feel this image might have been improved by a giant snowman with a carrot nose and a tartan scarf in the foreground obscuring that breathtaking panorama ;-)
Having read that I bet you regret not putting a carrot in your pocket when you left the house!

@Stu: What a brilliant idea!!! Mind you, up there the snow is as dry as a popcorn fart... not much chance of a snowman rising up from the cold white powder. I absolutely love the visual, though!! Thanks Stu! I think I'll be giggling about that for awhile.. ;-)
Wow! Spectacular!!!

It absolutely is breathtaking up there Amy! Long time since I went up there too - but never when the snow was that deep. I don't think the gondola was going up in the middle of winter than! I am wondering which way you were facing up the mountain. I often used to go and to get early morning light I stayed in the hotel just down from the Sulphur Mt. Hot Springs and the Gondola. The view head on facing the way you came from when you went up would show the Fairholm Range in the distance, a beautiful panorama with the Bow Valley laid out below! If you move the camera very.very slightly left you would get Mt. Rundle - the one I took from the hotel room window. Maybe you were overlooking the other side of Sulphur - I know that is not Cascade Mountain's shape ahead! But Oh! the nostalgia - makes me so so envious - just can't ever afford to go from here to there for a weekend stay - just too expensive for a couple of days and 600 miles away! Keep on posting some more and I will scan some of mine when I finish the Whistler trip!

This image is stunning. You have perfectly captured the awesome feeling of littleness that goes along with standing near a mountain. Great work.

Going through a few of your recent shots, this is one of my favourites. My only critique would have been to position the trees more to the left so that they intersect less with the beautiful mountain in the background. When you've got such a great foreground and background, it's best to separate them as much as possible. A wonderful shot, nonetheless ... such magnificent scenery.
