winter wander-dan

Back up on Sulphur Mountain...

This is he who deals with me on a daily basis and makes my world a better place; Dan, my husband. He's a good photographer's helper... he carried my tripod.

These walk ways up top are just wonderful and the reason they can have the gondolas running in the winter. It used to be just sheep trails up top which are just a tad difficult to traverse in deep snow with howling winds.

Plus you had to stop and feed the sheep. Isn't modern technology wonderful. Seriously, This is a great shot with the lines going all willy-nilly, the snow in the trees and the way the stairs lead you into them.
Dan is a trooper for sure. Just keep an eye on him, you know how those sheep can be.

Another great picture. It has a lot of character and I just don't mean Dan. It appears to me that this is in black and white and you photoshopped Dan's jacket. Am I right? Quite a hike even if your tripod is being carried for you. This has been a wonderful series of pictures. Thanks for sharing them.

@Marion: Yes, you're right I did colour Dan's coat back into the b/w conversion. One of my favourite tricks. When I took this shot I already knew I was going to be treating it like this. Thank you so much Marion!

Thats well cool, and it looks a long steep climb. Its a great composition, as the mountain slope above is visible, and the selective colouring makes it even more interesting.

A lovely compo with the walkway leading right in! Like the treatment you gave it! Those walkways weren't there when I used to go up Sulphur. There was one more gradual walkway from the restaurant/gondola which went left and climbed to the summit! Have scanned some mountain pics but can't find the prints of the better ones I had enlarged - think they must be somewhere in a great pile of processing envelopes! Oh Dear! I am fed up of looking at my mountains now! The ones I found had faded quite a bit (most of them) and they don't take too kindly to altering the color in photoshop!
