HAPPY VALENTINES!!!
I know these images are very similar but I think that although they are so similar, each does have a different nuance. This one is really noisy because of how much I enlarged it to get this close crop of the red poll. I do really love these creatures... they have such a great colour and believe me we need colour in our winters!! I thought how the red covered his little chest was so appropriate for Valentines. Oh, I added a bit of diffuse glow... sorry, can't help but fiddle!! LOL
Thank you again so much for all the comments on yesterday's post... You are all FABulous!!!
Just tell me what you think. I'm a big girl.... I won't cry for long. ;-)

He is sooooo cute. Happy Valentine Day to you too!! I like your fiddling, great result. You will be happy to know that we had a balmy 10 degrees today. Some people were wearing shorts and most people had shed their coats and jackets. Spring is on it's way.

Another great shot!

I think this is my favorite (unless you've got others still to come!). Really nice framing and I like the elongated format and the limited use of color. These have all been charming.

I love the tight crop on this one. Really beautiful!

Very nicely done amy. I'm still intrigued by this beautiful little bird's name -- it resembles a house wren or a sparrow, but isn't either far as I can tell. They must be very northern in their orientation, b/c I don't think I've ever seen one down South.

@Viewfinder: I think they are of the sparrow family. Keep forgetting to check. Will try to check on the tonight when I get home. Thank you so much always, VF!!
I really do like the selective color on the birds breast! But the overall use of value in this series is outstanding! Well done Amy! Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm not complaining...he's gorgeous! He's a beautiful spot on the snow. Happy V. day Amy :)

HOLY COW !!! I wonder if this guy can fly ??? lol , he is a biggin ! I think this shot is beautiful , way to go !

He/she's a beautiful little bird and I bet he does brighten up the winters. He appears quite plump because he's puffed up his feathers to increase his insulation around his little body due to the cold. If I remember correctly from high school biology, that's called piloerection.

Love it!!! I love the little pop of red...appropriate for the day!

Hey cutes..happy Valentines Day pal..hope you are having a good one... Luvs this shot also...it's a dead heat with yesterday's post..the diffuse glow adds a definite magic to the shot..gives a feeling of the cold weather you reckon your having*-))... Billyboyo...

I think this actually looks attractively soft..

The subtle tint in the breast feathers wins this shot above all nitpicking. Delightful.
14 Feb 2008 8:01pm
Um .. those are feathers, aren't they. My avian anatomy is wanting...
