My friend's daughter is an aspiring singer/songwriter. Brandi is gorgeous and extremely talented. She is trying to get a cd together and when I heard she was trying to get an album cover (aging myself with that word but if the Grammy's can still call it an album.. LOL) done for it, I volunteered for the job. So I've been working with Brandi (whose stage name is sidney york) trying to conceptualize her idea and this is what the final product is. And I must say it was a lot of fun trying to get her ideas to "paper". The apple/slice is from a photo stock which Brandi supplied. I found an old watch (my mother's) that was old enough not to have a battery in it so I could get a macro of the cogs. Fortunately, the face of Mom's watch was also worthy of Brandi's vision. After much experimentation in CS3 I was able to copy/paste/manipulate the cogs and face to fit relatively well to give the impression of being really part of the apple. The free transform and warp tools became my best friends... once I figured out they were there and how to use them. I have to admit that although I see a couple things I wish I knew how to fix I am still very pleased with my first attempt at real graphic art.

The exif data is not mine. It's in reference to the background layer which was a stock photo supplied to me. I still have my Nikon.

Good work, Amy! My only criticism is I had to really look b/c I thought it was a pepper on the left - the red is almost too saturated - hope you don't mind the critique, it was just my gut reaction...

@Betsy Barron: I don't mind the critique at all!! Appreciate it very much. I have to admit that I liked the saturation of the apple. More to the vision of Brandi's with the dreary machinations inside but that glossy look on the outside. However, now that I'm seeing it through your eyes... I definitely see your point. Thanks Betsy... it's always so appreciated to get critiques from photographers of your calibre!! ;-)

@shahab: Thank you so much shahab!! As to the camera: No I didn't change cameras. The exif that's showing is from what was the background layer of the graphic which was a stock photo image, not mine.

Wow, 7 people came before me and nobody has made a pun around the 'A Clockwork Orange' theme. Lucky me lol! Really great processing work. Although I was surprised you did a shot of the watch and used a stock apple, I was expecting to hear you did it the other way around!

I am just listening to Sydney York as I type. She is a very pretty girl with a nice voice. I don't think the recording quality does her justice but everyone must start somewhere!

@drphoto: Actually, I would've preferred it to be all my images but knew my limitations for getting a good graphic image of an apple so didn't even attempt it and just used what Brandi supplied me. And you're right about the recording quality.... it doesn't do her justice.

CDs are still albums. If dictionaries can call CDs albums I guess you can.
Very nice start. I agree with Betsy about the red. Maybe try shooting the apple yourself. If it doesn't work all you lose is a little time.

I like it...but I have to say the larger apple (left side) seems a titch off for me.
I like the concept and the creativity...perhaps a little more umph, if that makes any sense???
