Another conceptual. I started with the barbed wire image playing around because I thought it needed something. I don't know how these things come to me exactly but my thought process took me back to the swans and how they have a freedom of flight that I wish I had (as I'm sure so many do). And so from my mind wandering as I sat with laptop resting on my knees, trying to visit Am3ers, watching the old boob tube, and doing that free association type of thing with my mind this is what finally came rushing to the fore. It took about an hour of playing with the texture layers until I finally had the colours and feel to what my mind was trying to tell me. So that, my friends, is sort-a how I do these... I don't necessarily have a concrete vision just something vaguely floating around in the ether I call my brain. ;-)

Art is quite the "right-brained" process. Your explanation is classic right-brain in action. It's a terrific end product, btw. I like the textures, color intensity, and general "feel" of this photo.

This worked out so well Amy...it's brilliant! The threads hanging from the barbed wire look like they are blowing in the breeze of freedom. The birds flying free in the background in that wonderful scene really make the photo special!

Well, whatever you did Amy, it sure worked, great piece of conceptual photographic art

Excellent and I believe successful work, Amy. I crossed a lot of these fences when I was a kid and always wished they weren't there. I suppose it was a metaphor for the way some of us lead our lives, climbing through the wire, scratching our skin, and sometimes bleeding a little. But those fences don't make any difference at all!

I love this wonderful "disorder"... did you juxtapose 2 pictures... an exceptionnal atmosphere... an excellent work !

@zOOm: I used quite a few different images beginning with the barbed wire image, then the swan image, another landscape image, an image of a creek, and then some texture images. Thanks so much zOOm!
Beautiful conceptual image. I really like the pp you used. You have a wonderful muse. :)

I think it is fabulous. Your experimentation has crossed the line to artistic dablings. Keep developing the talent Amy. You'll be exhibiting soon!

Bugger me cutes..!!..this is a first class work of conceptual art,pal.. The background landscape layer colour is so right for the barbed wire layer and suits the image so well..to top it off with the swans in flight is a bonus indeed...magnificent and so well explained... Billyboyo...

The result is awesome. I just love it Amy. Quite a brain you have there my friend. I have no idea how you do it, but I love that you do do it. Conceptual art. Wow, You are going to have to teach me how to do some of these weird and wonderful things. When are you making your move?

@Marion: Still not 100% sure. The house is slated to be completed by the 30th. We'll have to do a walk through with them then it's ours. We think we'll head out to the island on th 31st with a pitstop in Langley to visit friends. The actual move won't really happen until the end of June ... still waiting to sell the house here. It's still a conditional sale; waiting for them to sell their place. Sigh. And I'd love to show you how to do layers!!! Thanks Marion!!
I love the concept here. My only complaint is that I wish the swans were more prominent - they kind of blend in too much and get lost within the background for me. I've noticed a similar thing on a few images and suspect that are monitors display things quite differently. The creek image lends a nice sense of movement to the image, while the wire adds an element of chaos. The swans.......ahh the swans - they make one want to lay on the grass with dreamy thoughts. Nice work.

I'm really getting in to this style of yours. I took a couple images yesterday that I wished could have this type of effect. Your really doing a good job with these.

Thos texture layers can be tricky. They always seem to turn out better or most of the time worse then I had expected. Those times it turns out better are the ones that keep my trying over and over. I love how this shot turned out. My favorite part is the blue across th middle. It kind of breaks up the earth tones.
