the macarena..

The way this Harlequin Duck was twisting and shaking just made me think of that dance craze from the '90s LOL!!

Still not feeling 100% but decided to go out and about anyways. The herring are running right now and it doesn't last very long. I'd heard that some sea lions were hanging around Madrona Pt because of the herring run so I went searching. It's a sandstone shelf for most of the 'beach' and quite tricky to traverse, I soon discovered. Yep, fell flat on my butt! Ouch!! Fortunately, I didn't have my camera out of the bag yet and my bag is a well padded backpack type of camera case. But I swear I heard the gulls guffawing quite riotously at my graceful and surprising descent to a sitting position LOL!! I did see a couple sea lions swimming by and snorting as they were taking breaths but alack and alas there was no opportunity to get a shot. So feeling somewhat disappointed I decided to head over to French Creek... and nothing happening there either. Thinking I was doomed for getting anything worthy I headed down the road to Qualicum. That's where I saw these Harlequin's.... and ya gotta shoot quick as they are quite twitchy and shy.
