palettePosted by amy (Nanaimo, BC, Canada) on 4 May 2009 in Art & Design and Portfolio. My birthday was Saturday and we spent the weekend over on the west side of the island just outside of Tofino. It was truly a most wonderous weekend. The weather was less than co-operative but that's not unheard of when you go over to the "wet coast". But even with the torrential downpours I still got out on the beaches and shot to my heart's content. I took over 400 shots... and have since deleted many... and had to delete quite a few on site as I was shooting!! LOL!! So there are, needless to say, quite a few images that I need to process and this will take some time.. oy vey!! LOL!! The surf was just incredible as it was crashing on the rocks. I must admit I took far too many shots of that but did so in hopes of getting a few worthy shots. Dan and I even got swamped once with the incoming tide because we'd found some purple and orange starfish. Too funny!! Once we got back to the room it was a case of trying to dry out with our clothes in front of the fireplace. I had read in a recent issue of Practical Photography that the shower caps they supply at most hotels work really well to cover/protect your camera body from wet weather.... and they were right. They worked beautifully! I didn't worry at all about my camera body and just kept up to drying off the lens. Now if only they could come up with something for my glasses.... like mini wiper-blades!! So the next I don't know how many posts will be from this past weekend. Some will be, as this one is, layered and textured and some will be untouched images. This image is definitely multi-layers; two different images of rocks/ sunset and rocks/island, a couple curves layers, 4 different texture layers, and a colour layer.... plus multiple uses of different grunge brushes that I found for free at Smashing Magazine. You can view my gallery of images and calendar for sale at: cute but stupid . I'm slowly adding more to the site and if there is something in my portfolio you would like to purchase but is not available on my site just contact me and I'll make it available. I appreciate all visits and comments and thank you always... ;-)
