Avalanche Tunnel

Posted by
amy (Nanaimo, BC, Canada) on 16 July 2007 in Architecture and Portfolio.

This is my take on one of the avalanche tunnels when coming through Glacier National Park to the Roger's Pass. I've travelled through these tunnels since I was a child and always love going through them.

Adiemus from Christchurch, New Zealand

Makes me feel slightly nauseous - the effect of moving forward at great speed. Great shot Amy!

16 Jul 2007 7:07pm

@Adiemus: Yeah, I get that Bronnie!! Most especially since the guy behind the wheel (Mr Amy) thinks he's Mario Andretti when he's driving through the mountains!! LOL

Matt Trujillo Photography from Portland, United States

Beautiful shot.

My inner photo-geek wonders... The color range reminds me of some shots in arc-sodium lighting with daylight white balance. Did you achieve the blue effect with the white-balance setting of the camera, or did you do it in post?

16 Jul 2007 8:31pm

@Matt Trujillo Photography: I did it all in post. It was already a fairly interesting shot but I wanted to knock it up a notch. Always tinkering.. that's me!! LOL

Steph from Hamar, Norway

Nice shot! I really like how it bends in the far distance.

yo cutes--top colour--very nice--great speedy feel from this baby--when you were a child??--could they build tunnels like this,that long ago??hee hee--billy--come on!!!

16 Jul 2007 11:35pm

@bronzebilly u.k.: Well, billy, you know that after I invented the wheel and discovered fire (or was it the other way around.. getting addled in my old age).... I had to do something fairly spectacular. Voila! Tunnels!! I told Moses all about tunnels but .. well.. you know HIS story!

Thanks.... you're always a challenge.. heeheehee

Robert from Oshawa, Canada

Very surreal. This looks like a scene in a sci-fi movie.
