beak full of feathers

Posted by amy (Nanaimo, BC, Canada) on 5 October 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

On Friday morning we got an unexpected visitor. This Merlin had taken down a Brewer's Black Bird that had been on our roof. I do also have a shot of him over the dead bird with feathers everywhere and am posting that for tomorrow... so this is a warning if you're sensitive to anything like this. It's all about the circle of life I guess. All the shots I took were through a window without flash as I didn't want to disturb the Merlin. After all was said and done, all that remained were the feathers on the deck which Dan kindly volunteered to clean up.
