sitting pretty

Well, that certainly took longer than expected... one week turned into three. Turns out that I came pretty close to having frozen shoulder. So I made sure that I took extra time to heal my shoulder as much as I could. It's still a bit touchy but otherwise back to "normal". And I've got my physio exercises to do as well.... sheesh..

But the good news is that the hummers are back. I've got 2 feeders out and will get a third out as soon as I find one I like. Dan (aka Mr amy) calls the backyard an airport now because of all the hummers zipping around back there. From what I've been able to see on-line, most of what we have are Rufous and Allen's hummingbirds. Dan thinks he saw an Anna's and I'm pretty sure I saw a Ruby-Throat. However there is one that I have no idea what it is. It has the rust coloured body like a Rufous but its' head is all black including under its' chin. It's been just amazing watching them. This little guy actually let me get within about 3-4 feet of it to get a shot. So needless to say, I will be posting many hummer shots as the spring and summer progress.... and once my lilies, clematis, and trumpet vines grow I'm hoping to get oodles of shots of them feeding at the flowers. This week's posts will be all hummers. ;-)
